Administration of Medication in School
Occasionally, a child may be required to carry his/her medication or have this administered by a member of staff in school. For all medication in school, the parent/guardian/carer MUST complete an Administration of Medication Form OR the Request for pupil to carry his/her Medication Form (available here or on request from the school office)
MEDICATION WILL NOT BE ADMINISTERED UNLESS APPROPRIATE FORMS BY PARENTS/GUARDIANS/CARERS ARE COMPLETED AND APPROVED BY THE PRINCIPAL
For safety reasons, children should NOT bring their own medication to school – this should be brought by an adult and left in the school office or handed to the class teacher. Please remember, if your child requires an inhaler (or any other type of medication) it is your responsibility to ensure there is an adequate supply in school and the medication is in date. A ‘Request for pupil to carry his/her Medication Form’ should also be completed.
Parents/Guardians must ensure/ are responsible for the following:
• All medications are in date
• The school has an adequate supply of required medication
• Medications must be supplied in the original container and only dispensed as labelled
• Safe disposal of used or out of date medications
• Informing the school if medication is no longer required or changed
